Music and the Moving Image

The UCSB Center for the Interdisciplinary Study of Music (CISM) is sponsoring an interdisciplinary graduate conference entitled Music and the Moving Image. This conference seeks to explore the interaction between the moving image (film, television, digital media, etc.) and music, sound, and even “silence” through a wide variety of interdisciplinary approaches.

The conference is organized by graduate students, for graduate students.

We are pleased to announce that our keynote address will be delivered by Rick Altman, Professor of Cinema and Comparative Literature at the University of Iowa.

As part of the conference, we will be presenting the Santa Barbara premier of The Call of Cthulhu, a new silent film.
